Trained as a functional potter, Evan uses traditional vessels and forms to examine the various aspects of human behavior and relationships. He draws upon the vernacular of human interaction and communication to shape his work. Evan continues to make traditional forms like tea bowls, cups and vases; and he recently expanded his body of work to sculpture using traditional techniques but untraditional forms. His sculptures deal with the way our earth and nature are dominated by technology and man-made structures that inflict harm on the space they consume.
